They say time is a great healer, well time also allows for research to be conducted and recent studies show that alternative therapies, such as Emotional Freedom Techniques - EFT and Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP, can make a positive impact on those with PTSD and also, provide a rest bite to their families and loved ones.
We have partnered with a number of trained, experienced and professional Coaches/Mentors, who have further advanced themselves, by practising in the various alternative therapies that are now being recognised. By providing you with a low-level understanding of one of these therapies and the various relevant, tools and techniques, we can enable you to gain immediate relief from some of the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD.
Often the partners and families of those struggling with mental challenges, are forgotten about and yet the affects can be as life changing to them, as the individual themselves. The ability to talk with someone who can identify with the struggles they encounter on a daily basis, can make such a difference, to have the feeling of support, provides them with enough strength to carry on being the rock for those affected.
Then there is the individuals who has the affliction, the ability to talk through the raft of emotions, the frustrations and difficulties faced every day, without being judged or knowing that the person you are talking to, actually cannot relate to your journey or what you are going through. Talking to a Veteran who has been or is still, on the same journey as you, can in most cases provide enough support and a feeling of belonging, even if only for a short period of time.
Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT (often known as Tapping or EFT Tapping), is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. EFT operates on the premise that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved emotional issues in the way.
Even for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions, it is common knowledge that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body. With that in mind, EFT can be an ongoing process that we use to clear out the old traumas, and welcome any new challenges with a healthy, productive attitude.
NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do. NLP provides people with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by geniuses and leaders in their field.
A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental maps of the world as a product of the way we filter and perceive information absorbed through our five senses from the world around us – NLP quite simply is a user manual for the mind.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that aims to help you manage your problems by changing how you think and act. Trauma-focused CBT uses a range of psychological treatment techniques to help you come to terms with the traumatic event. For example, your therapist may ask you to confront your traumatic memories by thinking about your experience in detail. During this process your therapist will help you cope with any distress you feel, while identifying any unhelpful thoughts or misrepresentations you have about the experience.
By doing this, your therapist can help you gain control of your fear and distress by changing the negative way you think about your experience, such as feeling that you are to blame for what happened or fear that it may happen again.
